Christian Submission

Christian submission is an unpopular subject in today’s woman friendly world.

It is not a bad thing to see women have a fair go, so to speak, but when it infringes on God’s word it becomes sin.

Submitting and obeying in God’s word is a privilege of being part of God’s family. It is an act of love, Jesus submitted to the Father in the garden prior to the cross!

Ephesians 5:22
For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

So what does as to the Lord mean… It means what other scripture references mean,  for instance:

1 Peter 3:5-6

This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They trusted God and accepted the authority of their husbands. For instance, Sarah obeyed her husband, Abraham, and called him her master. You are her daughters when you do what is right without fear of what your husbands might do.

Life Application Study Bible says: Submission is voluntarily cooperating with someone, first out of love and respect for God and then out of love and respect for that person. Submitting to unbelievers is difficult, but it’s a  vital part of leading them to Jesus Christ. We are not called to submit to nonbelievers to the point that we compromise our relationship with God,but we must look for every opportunity to humbly serve in the power of God’s Spirit.

There is false teaching out there talking about how the curse in the garden of Eden has been revoked because of the new covenant, but the curse to the woman was pain in childbirth not about her husband ruling her. Sarah Abraham’s  wife is mentioned in the New Covenant as calling him master that sounds like ruling her to me but she is submissive so there is no harshness.

Fear is the most troublesome emotion and a cause of the flesh against Godly submission 1 Peter 3:6 nails it though and if fear is the opposite to faith that means faith can beat fear,  if used.

1 Peter 3:4

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

The opposite of gentle and quiet spirit is not pretty. It’s proud and loud and God hates it! Sin is a deceiver – it’s not about feelings but faith that overcomes sin, God says He will help us defeat sin in our lives.  Paul the Apostle says ” God forbid ” to continue in it.

We become what we allow into our lives  – one or two steps away and in a while we are lost. No, we should fight sin’s encroachment in our lives.

I once turned down an offer to join Jesus’ club… I became one of the sorriest men in the world.  When we walk away from the WORD we walk away from our Saviour’s  love and get lost in ourselves, it may be too late when another chance comes –  it was for me at that time.

💙 ❤️ brothers and sisters – Please don’t be frightened of God’s word.  It is the way to life and that abundantly!

Ps Ev Stephen Gill

You are loved and valued by a loving all-wise God! ❤️
